Congress Venue

Scientific Program, Tutorials, Welcome Reception, Lunches, Coffee Breaks, Exhibitions and Demonstrations will all take place at the main building of the ETH Zurich (Tramway 6 or 10 from Zurich Main Station "Zürich Hauptbahnhof" to "ETH/Universitätsspital"). Oral presentations will be held in the Auditorium Maximum (F30) and the rooms F1, F3, F5, F7 (Orientation in the ETH Main Building) which are all situated one floor above the main entrance.

Registration Desk

Conference Registration Desk will be located in the foyer of the main building of the ETH Zurich. It will be open on Sunday, July 8 from 8:00 to 19:00 and Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00. Please check in at this desk to receive your conference materials. Student registrants are kindly asked to have their Identification Card ready.

Welcome Reception

Welcome Reception will be held after the official Opening Ceremony and the Wartenweiler Memorial Lecture on Sunday, July 8 from 18:00 to 19:30 in the main hall.

No Parking Possibilities

There are absolutely no parking possibilities at or near the ETH main building. We highly recommend to leave the car outside the city and to use the public transportation system as the centre of Zurich is very well accessible by train, bus and tramway. Congress Badges

Delegates are kindly requested to wear their official Congress Identification Badges during the whole congress.

Exhibitions and Demonstrations

There will be an exhibition in the main hall of ETH starting on Sunday, July 8 at 18:00 (Welcome Reception) until Wednesday, July 11 at 12:00. The photogrammetry demonstration of the Zurich Police will take place on Friday, July 13 at 10:30 in the main hall.

Space Evening

Space Evening is a public event on Tuesday, July 10 from 20:00 to 22:00 (Auditorium Maximum F30). Three astronauts will inform the general public about their impressions and experiences in space (Jean-Pierre Haigneré FR, Thomas Reiter D and Bob Thirsk CAN). All three have served in the Life Science Program of the ESA and NASA conducting experiments developed by the Laboratory for Biomechanics, ETH Zurich.

Computing

For the duration of the congress we provide five servers for email communication in room F33.1. The room will be staffed.

Sport

During the congress you can choose among different sport activities: jogging, individual fitness and relax training. Further information will be given at the congress. Bring your sports-wear and towel with you!

Wednesday Afternoon Activities

Winterthur Tour: SULZER Medica and KISTLER Instruments

   There is the chance to visit SULZER Medica and KISTLER Instruments (Group 1) or KISTLER Instruments only (Group 2) in a tour organized by these two companies. As the number of participants is limited to 50 persons per each group, reservations are necessary and will be taken by email: isb2001@biomech.mat.ethz.ch. Please let us know which group you are interested in.

Bassersdorf Tour: SCANCO Medical

Also Wednesday afternoon you can be part of the SCANCO Tour. SCANCO is specialized on Computed Tomography Systems for Bone Densitometry and Bone Structure Assessment. The tour is limited to 20 persons. Reservations are necessary and will be taken by email: isb2001@biomech.mat.ethz.ch. Meeting time is 13:40 at the "Group Meeting Point" of the Zurich Main Station. The tour will take about 2 to 3 hours time.

Coffee Break and Lunch Time

Coffee Breaks will be provided at the main hall within the exhibition except during the poster sessions where the coffee will be served in the foyers (Nord- and Südhof). Apart from the official coffee break of half an hour twice a day, refreshments and snacks are available in the ETH-Cafeteria and the PolySnack daily during the whole week except Sunday.
Lunch time is set between 12:45 and 14:00. You will get your lunch in self-service at the ETH-Mensa Polyterrasse with the Lunch Coupon which you will receive with your conference materials. Please note that the buffet will be closed after 13:30.
Lunch on Sunday, July 8 (between Tutorials) will be possible at the ETH-Clausiusbar next to the main building. It will open especially for the ISB Congress.

Way to the Kongresshaus

Banquet

The Congress Banquet will conclude the 18th Congress of the ISB. It will be held on Friday, July 13 at the "Kongresshaus Zürich" (see map) starting at 19:30 until 23:30. The building is accessible from Zurich Main Station by tramway 11 (direction "Rehalp"). Step out at the "Bürkliplatz" station, then turn right and walk along the lake until you see the Kongresshaus on your right. The Banquet Ticket must be shown at the entrance.

The Congress will be held in English.
